Laurel and Hardy (sort of) This my sister Becky and me. I don't remember the exact year this was, but probably around 2000. I had been wanting to dress up for the Staff Halloween Contest with Becky. I wanted us to be Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. I even volunteered to be Dum but Becky suggested Laurel and Hardy which sounded good to me. Becky got her suit and our shoes (men's shoes) from Salvation Army. The hats were just cheapo Halloween stuff. I borrowed the shirt, tie and suspenders from my husband. The pants were mine. We went to the contest and won! We had rehearsed one of the cute little song and dance routines from one of their movies, Way Out West, I think. We performed it for my father and he was thrilled. UCI Founding Faculty and Staff Event On October 11, 2005 the UC Irvine Alumni Association held a 40th Anniversary Founders' Day Reception at the University Club. This was done in conjunction with the 40th year celebration for the campus, which opened in 1965 as the ninth campus of the University of California - the only UC in Orange County. To my surprise, my twin sister Becky and I are considered founding alumni because we were students in the '60s - just barely. We started as freshmen in Fall of 1969 so we just made it into the "founding" category. I am the red blob on the right and my sister is almost dead center above Jean Aldrich. If I had known almost everyone else was going to dress in black, gray or beige, I would have, too. Some of the people in the picture are founding faculty.
